CSAW is SOF's 5.56mm assault rifle, built on a simple premise: a civilian-legal gun for global conflict — anywhere, anytime, on anything.

At its core is a true free-floating barrel system, isolated from outside input. Sling tension, hard bracing on cover, and pressure from improvised supports don't steer the point of impact the way they can on less disciplined builds. Real shooting rarely happens off a bench. CSAW is meant to be driven into barricades, against door frames, over hoods, and through tight shooting ports without walking as the support changes — repeatable accuracy under positional stress, not just printed groups.

The barrel spec follows where 5.56 performance actually lives: heavier-for-caliber projectiles. The twist rate is chosen for those loads, delivering stable flight and predictable precision with the ammunition serious end users stock and train with, not lightweight range fodder.

Durability is a design requirement, not a marketing line. The structure and interfaces tolerate high round counts and the kind of handling that turns nice rifles into paperweights. Barricade surfaces are integrated where shooters actually contact the rifle, giving stable indexing when you're posted on cover or fighting for a supported shot under time. It's built to be pressed into the environment, not protected from it.

CSAW was shaped with direct input from Navy and Army Tier 1 end users - people who define "reliable" differently, because the cost of failure isn't inconvenience.
