L119A2 Restomod 10.5" | 5.56 | SBR

The L119A2 began in 2013, when the UK MoD went looking for a replacement for the Special Forces' L119A1. Those rifles were reaching the end of their service life, and there was appetite for a design that addressed some of the A1's shortcomings. Colt Canada (formerly Diemaco) produced the result, procured in 10″ and 15.7″ barrel lengths.

Its most distinctive feature was the monolithic upper receiver, licensed by LTM — though it brought real problems with heat retention, cleanability, and serviceability. The 10″ platform also struggled with dwell time and reliability when run unsuppressed. Elsewhere the A2 improved on its predecessor: a Magpul CTR stock and Geissele triggers in place of the A1's MILSPEC trigger. The Surefire suppressors and optics carried over unchanged, as the A2 tender included neither new optics nor funding for them.

The TYPE-A L119A2 is equipped with a 10.5″ vanadium alloy steel barrel for weight reduction and a Surefire Warcomp. It runs a TYPE-A chrome-nitride bolt carrier group with R.E.M. polish, a DGI (direct gas impingement) system, and an enhanced MilSpec single-stage trigger for consistent reliability round after round.

NOTE: All TYPE-A rifles are hardcoat anodized and then Cerakoted for a longer-lasting, more durable finish - so the rifle wears down to the anodized surface rather than to raw aluminum the way some others do. Just another detail that makes this one...TYPE-A.
